How a JPG becomes a vector

Original pixels

Read the pixels

A JPG is a grid of colored squares with soft, blurry edges. Tracery Lab reads every one, including the in-between pixels along each edge.

Find the real colors

JPEG noise and edge blends are ignored, and the true palette is read from the solid areas. The fox has six.

Trace every edge

Edges are located to a fraction of a pixel. Straight runs become single lines, and each corner sits exactly where two lines meet.

Save clean paths

What you download is a small, editable file that opens in Illustrator, Figma, Canva or your cutting machine software.

Clean enough to send straight to print

Most free converters give you wobbly outlines and dozens of near-identical colors. Tracery Lab rebuilds the shapes the way you would draw them by hand.

Straight lines stay straight

Flat edges become single segments and corners land exactly where the lines meet, so there is nothing to clean up in Illustrator.

Exact colors, no fringe

The real palette is read from solid areas, so you get three clean colors instead of forty muddy ones. Recolor any of them before you download.

Your file stays on your device

The conversion runs in your browser. No sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.

One click, four formats

Every file is a true vector except PNG, which is rendered from the vector at up to 4000 pixels.

.svg

Websites, Figma, Canva, and Cricut or Silhouette cutting machines.

.pdf

Print shops, Illustrator, InDesign and sending proofs to clients.

.eps

CorelDRAW, embroidery, vinyl and signage software.

.png

A sharp, enlarged image for social posts and documents.

Questions

What kind of images work best?

Logos, icons, lettering, line art, stickers and flat illustrations, including ones with gradients and soft shadows. Small or blurry JPGs are sharpened by AI before tracing. Photos are converted into posterized vector art.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your files never leave your device. Even the AI sharpening runs on your device: the model downloads once, and your image is never sent anywhere.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of images.

Curves look bumpy or corners look rounded.

Use the Corners slider. Move it left for organic shapes and hand lettering, or right for geometric logos and type.

Small details are missing, or there is too much noise.

Use the Detail slider. Move it right to keep tiny dots and thin lines, or left to clean up noise and specks.

The colors are not right.

Set the exact number of colors with the plus and minus buttons, change any color by clicking its swatch, or hide a color with the eye.
